Plumbing Technician
Description

The Plumbing Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of all plumbing and water systems. This includes water supply, drainage, sanitary, and irrigation networks. The role ensures that all plumbing systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulations. The technician will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot faults, and support facility operations to maintain uninterrupted water services.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect, install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems including pipes, fittings, valves, pumps, and fixtures.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance for domestic water, drainage, and irrigation systems.
  • Diagnose leaks, blockages, and system failures; carry out necessary repairs promptly.
  • Maintain and repair water heaters, pumps, tanks, and sanitary fixtures.
  • Check water pressure, flow rates, and system performance regularly.
  • Ensure proper functioning of drainage systems, manholes, and grease traps.
  • Support maintenance of firefighting and irrigation water lines as required.
  • Follow safety procedures and ensure compliance with plumbing codes and standards.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and report any major faults to supervisors.
  • Coordinate with HVAC, electrical, and civil teams for integrated facility maintenance activities.
Qualifications
  • Education: Technical diploma or certificate in Plumbing, Sanitary Systems, or Building Services.
  • Experience: 3–5 years of experience in plumbing maintenance within facility management, commercial, or residential buildings.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of water supply, drainage, and sanitary systems.
    • Experience with pumps, valves, pressure tanks, and piping systems (PVC, PPR, copper, etc.).
    • Ability to read plumbing drawings and schematic diagrams.
    • Skilled in troubleshooting leaks, blockages, and system faults.
    • Knowledge of water-saving and safety practices.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Good teamwork and communication skills.
    • High attention to safety, hygiene, and detail.
    • Ability to work under pressure and during emergencies.
  • Certifications (Preferred):
    • Safety training (e.g., confined space, work at height, or OSHA).
